Bamboo ground covers

Shrubs and ground-cover plants can be used to shade large expanses of heat-absorbing rock mulch. In addition to shading the ground, these plants also help lower air temperature around the home through evaporative cooling.

In bamboo terms, a ground cover bamboo is any bamboo rated for 10 feet or less. This is different from other ground cover plants that are usually rated tor 2 feet or less so keep this in mind when choosing your grouind cover.

The varieties on the left will make good ground covers; however, taller bamboo could be considered if you like it. Ground covers can be used as a landscape focal point, as an underplanting of taller varieties or woodlots, for erosion control, to cover hard-to-maintain-locations such as steep hillsides and the list goes on.
