Shipping sizes
We sell our plants based on a letter code rather than a gallon size.
We have found that gallon sizes do not relate too well to bamboo plants but you can use the following as a general guide.
"A" size = 1 gallon (up to 12" tall, 6 to 8" root ball weighing 3 to 6 pounds)
"B" size = 2 to 3 gallon up to 44" tall, 8" to 10" root ball weighing 6 to 12 pounds
"C-59" size = 3 to 5 gallon up to 6' tall, 10" to 12" root ball weighing up to 35 lbs - ships as UPS Oversize 1 which may have to be cut back to 59" for shipping.
"C-80" size = 3 to 5 gallon up to 7' tall, 10" to 12" root ball weighing up to 35 lbs - ships as UPS Oversize 2 which may have to be cut back to 80" for shipping.
"D" size = 5 to 10 gallon up to 12' tall, 12 to 14" root ball weighing up to 70 pounds - ships as UPS Oversize 2 which has to be cut back to 6' for shipping.
Our C and D size plants are considered field specimens.
Due to the way bamboo grows we do not always have all the different sizes available in all varieties. You can call or email to check on availability.
Your end result will be the same regardless of the size bamboo you start with... the main difference will be the time it takes for the grove to reach its maximum size. Ground covers and small varieties will usually be shipped by weight only with A, B, C, D usually being 1, 2, 3 or 4 gallon pots.
