Phyllostachys aureosulcata 'Yellow Groove' has young culms that are green with a yellow groove. Internodes on young culms are rough to touch. Culms sometimes have zigzag kinks. One of the most widely distributed bamboos in the U.S. Prized for shoots and for use as cold hardy screens. Some clones will revert to P. a. pekinensis (all green culms) in mature groves. Collected by Frank Meyer in Tangsi Chekiang Province, China in 1908.
