Phyllostachys vivax


Resembles Phyllostachys bambusoides except that the culms of this bamboo are thinner walled. It is grayish green when mature. There is a white powdery band beneath each node at sheath fall. It is the most cold hardy of the large timber bamboos and establishes quite quickly. Shoots are excellent for eating. A very attractive ornamental.
